Signing in works the same on all three WTN onion addresses

People ask whether they need to register separately on each address. No. The addresses are doors, not buildings.

printed the way they were handed over. no labels, no numbering, nothing here says which one to try first. this feed never opens them, so it has no status light, no percentage and no date of checking to give you.

the mental model

Three published onion addresses for one market are three ways in to the same thing. Your account exists behind all of them because it exists in one place.

So the address you used yesterday does not own your account, and using a different one today is not switching to a different service.

This is worth internalising because it removes a whole set of unnecessary worries.

what this means in practice

You register once. You sign in with the same username and password on whichever of the three addresses answers.

Your balance, your orders, your messages and your feedback are the same from every door. Nothing is per address.

If one address is quiet, using another one is the intended response, and the post on a mirror that will not open covers the rest of that situation.

sessions are per address, though

Here is the one place the model gets slightly more complicated. Your browser holds a session against the address you signed in on, not against the market in the abstract.

Sign in on a second address and you have a second session. Log out on one and the other is still there.

That is the practical reason not to spread yourself across mirrors, and it connects directly to logging out properly.

the dangerous version of this idea

Understanding that any address works can slide into believing that any address will do. Those are not the same sentence.

It is true of the three addresses in the published set. It is not true of a fourth address you found somewhere, and that fourth address is very interested in your username and password.

The habit worth building is the opposite of relaxed: same account everywhere, and a short, fixed list of everywheres.

if a sign in behaves differently

Signing in on one address and being told the account does not exist is worth stopping over. Accounts do not exist on one door and not another.

That does not prove anything on its own, since errors happen. It is a good moment to close the tab, re-check the address you are on, and start again rather than to try harder.

Trying harder is the wrong instinct at that specific screen, because trying harder means typing your credentials again, and typing them again is the entire objective of the page you might be looking at.

Stop, verify the address, then continue. It costs a minute and it is the only defence that works at that moment.

The same applies to a sign in page that looks subtly different from the one you remember, or that asks for something extra. Neither proves anything by itself, and both are cheap reasons to go back and check the string in the bar.

replies

a reader askedDo I need to register on each mirror?

the answerNo. One registration covers all three, because they are entrances to one market rather than three separate ones.

a reader askedIs one of the three addresses better to sign in on?

the answerThis feed prints them flat and in no order, and it never opens them, so it has no basis for a preference and will not invent one.

a reader askedI signed in on a new address and my orders are missing. What happened?

the answerEither something is loading slowly, or you are not where you think you are. Re-check the address character by character before drawing any conclusion, using the method in how to read one.

what this post is not Not a claim that any address you encounter will work with your account. It applies to the three published above and to nothing else.
